Roy Morden – Director, Music Librarian, Coordinator of Beginning Strings Conservatory

RoyRoy Morden's talent at the piano was recognized early in life. When he was eight years old, he won his first silver medal for outstanding performance from the Royal Conservatory of Music, University of Toronto, and later on, earned his degree from the same institution.

He chose to become a teacher of piano and organ, and served as Minister of Music to many churches, both in Canada and the United States. When living in Calgary, Canada, he was a faculty member of the Mount Royal College Conservatory of Music. He was also honored by the Israeli Government to attend the first World Choral Director's Convention in Jerusalem, and enjoys working with singers in church settings.

Currently Mr. Morden is the Minister of Music at the Church of Joy, Rancho Mirage, CA, where both he and his wife provide music for the congregation.

Roy and his wife, Dorothy, have been active in the musical life of Coachella Valley since moving to California in 1988. Both are members of the California Association of Professional Music Teachers (CAPMT), and the Music Teachers’ National Association (MTNA). Dorothy is the concertmaster of the Coachella Valley Symphony, and is wholeheartedly supported by her husband, Roy, who stepped in as Treasurer and Coordinator of the Beginning Strings Conservatory. For the past two years, both have spent untold hours working in the Library of the Symphony, to provide and care for the music that is in our concert programs for your enjoyment.
