David E. Wolfe, PhD, provides support to our President in the area of administration and serves as Chair of the Symphony’s Development committee.
He has held administrative positions in health care and higher education throughout his career. He has written Grant proposals, been the recipient of grant funding, and has served as a grant reader and panelist for such agencies as the U.S. Department of Education and the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences.
Awards/Achievements
Dr. Wolfe is the recipient of outstanding awards including the American Music Therapy Association Lifetime Achievement Award and several awards for his numerous professional publications.

Dr. Wolfe is Professor Emeritus and past Chair of the Department of Music Therapy and Coordinator of Graduate Studies, University of the Pacific, Conservatory of Music. He currently serves as a consultant to the Conservatory of Music at Chapman University. Dr. Wolfe has presented at national and international conferences and workshops, and his research articles have appeared in numerous professional publications. He also serves on the editorial boards of professional journals and is the author of several books.
Since his retirement, Dr. Wolfe has volunteered within the Service Council and the Docent Program at the Palm Springs Art Museum.
Artistic Abilities
Dr. Wolfe is a trained classical pianist and has studied classical and folk guitar. He previously played the trombone and baritone in his high school band and has also served in the capacity of an adjudicator for piano competitions.
Education
Dr. Wolfe began his college education at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, and has degrees from The Florida State University and the University of Minnesota.
Personal
Dr. Wolfe is presently semi-retired and resides in Palm Springs. In his leisure time, he enjoys writing, gardening, learning new piano repertoire, and increasing his knowledge of artists and their works. He also serves as an assistant to Patrick Blythe, a renowned Palm Desert glass artist.
