In 1997, with the reduction of string instrumental programs in our public schools, the Beginning Strings Conservatory was formed to offer elementary school students the opportunity to explore the violin in weekly group lessons.
The Symphony's educational outreach program provides string teachers to schools, covering all three school districts across the Coachella Valley, with plans to expand the program within the various desert communities. As a result, the lives of our students are enriched by promoting creativity, aesthetic awareness, and cultural growth.
The Coachella Valley Symphony awards scholarships each season to assist these young musicians with private study. Students who have completed two years of the Beginning Strings Conservatory are invited to join the Buddy Rogers Youth Symphony.
